There’re many ways to improve yourself enjoying the nature. One sport that makes you strong of mind and physic is climbing mountains. It keeps you focused, mind clear, high self-esteem and muscle strength.

In Tarifa, there’re some areas for climbing, one of them is San Bartolo. To go there, coming from Tarifa village, you’ve to go to the NW over the N-340 direction Cadiz for over 11km. 1/2 km after have passed (to the left) Punta Paloma beach. At the only main cross point go right (a sign indicates Betis ) and drive for some hundreds of meters till you find a bad road to the left, just before entering the area with houses. Shortly you’ll arrive to a parking place ( way point 36° 05’ 15’’ N ~ 5° 42’ 56’’ W).

From the parking a path goes into a meadow and up into the forest of eucaliptus trees. After less than ten minutes walking up we’ll arrive at the crags, one of the climbing spots of the place.

Here there’s a spot where you can find climbing walls of different grades for begginers to experienced. This place has got easy access. The rocks are in good quality. The weather almost all year is excellent. From this mountain you’ve an incredible scenery about Village of Tarifa, all beaches around and the north coast of Morocco. Also, while you’re there you can observe the vultures flying very close to your heads and it’s so nice.

It’s a very good climbing spot of Cadiz province. You can go with your family or friends. And there you’ll find other climbers. There’s very good vibes!

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings”- John Muir. I love this quote because I feel how Nature’s peace flow into me as sunshine flows into trees. I watch nature like a playground, so I love improving myselves playing every sports I can do in.

In spiritual, the mountains mean symbolizes: constancy, permanence, motionlessness and its peak spiritually signifies the state of absolute consciousness. So, climbing a mountain depicts inner elevation. So, we are not only climbing a mountain, when we’re there, we’re part of something much bigger. We are connecting with the universe, with the others who are there and with ourselves.

CLIMBING GRADES

In the climbing spot I mencionated before, San Bartolo, there’re routes up to 5c, from 6a to 6c and from 7a to 7c. Begginers start with 5c or less and then when they’ve more experience they can climb from 6a to 7b. And then if you practise a lot you will climb in the rest grades more difficults.

Mountains around the world to climb

The world is full of beautiful views and the best ones comes after the hardest climb. The snow covered mountain peaks reach up into the clear blue sky. It’s also full of the stories of the people who climbed those mountains, from Edmund Hillary’s initial ascent of Everest, to Miss Sheila MacDonald being the first woman to climb Kilimajaro.

When you go to the mountains to climb usually involves a road trip with people that you know. It’s funny to drive trough some of natural enviroments around the world. If you want to enjoy driving by Tarifa routes we offer rental car. This trip is an opportunity to invest your time and effort into a much more personal kind of work. Climbing successfully outside is damn hard you have to be willing to put an inmense amount of energy into it.

There’re two main styles of mountaineering: Alpine and Expedition. Alpine mountaineering is practiced in medium sized mountains, as opposed to the expedition style’s larger mountains. What would be a climbing trip, it would be preparing yourself hard. It isn’t the same self train when you’re a profesional climber than a begginer. People who dedicates them lifes to it, they’ve to prepare themselves hard. For most reasonable fit people it would take 4-6 years it takes to become a professional one. Core stregth is vital for improving your climbing ability.
